Introduction
At this upcoming weekend’s People United Conference (aka Virginia Social Forum – http://virginiasocialforum.blogspot.com/) we are planning on making a call for a Virginia area Anarchist Federation. We are seeking to form a federation which has specific projects and functions to support anarchism in this region. To this end we have formulated a draft ‘Points of Unity’ and ‘Organizational Structure’ for feedback and discussion. We are planning to meet and initiate a functioning federation at this weekend’s (June 22-24, 2007) People United Conference. We urge everyone who is interested to attend and if that is not possible to at the very least email us your thoughts at: easternanarchist@riseup.net.
Points of Unity
- Pro agitating for communal self-determination
Mass popular control and self-management over all aspects of social and economic life
- Agitating for a truly sustainable relationship to nature
- Supportive of the right to self defense
- Opposed to all forms of class rule and the exploitation of one person’s labor by another
- Anti-Patriarchal
Fighting all forms of sexual oppression
- Anti-Imperialism
Supportive of the self determination of all ethnicities/nationalities and specifically opposed to the current system of white supremacy and national oppression
Organizational Structure
- The current area of operation includes Virginia and adjacent counties
- Federation of active groups
Each member of every local group is also a member of the federation and pays dues individually
- The federation has a rotating coordinating committee
- The federation is committed to propaganda, support for local groups, and coordinating campaigns and actions
